Speaker Meeting Report: Chrys Mellor on the Yorkshire Belle
We had a well-attended meeting on the 12th May. Chrys Mellor spoke about a trip on Bridlinton's iconic Yorkshire Belle, cruising between Bridlington and Filey Brigg, where cliff heights range from 120 ft to 400 ft at Bempton. And guess how many species of seaweed there are on this stretch of the coastline? 112- who would have thought it!

Taking approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, the trip offers sightings of many types of birds, as well as up to 800 seals basking on the sands. At Bempton and along the coastline, dolphins, porpoises, and the occasional whale make this a fascinating journey on the Yorkshire Belle.
The audience asked many questions, and thanks were given by the chairman, Chris Langley. All in all, it was a fascinating evening and the Bridlington and District Civic Society express their thanks to Chrys Mellor for sharing her passion and knowlege!
The new Civic season will start again on Tuesday, 8th September. Keep an eye on our What's On page for a new programme of events.
We look forward to seeing you all then!
