Civil Society- Boynton Hall

In celebration of Yorkshire Day, on the 1st August the Civic Society ventured on another one of our civil outings. This time we visited the Grade I listed Boynton Hall, near Bridlington, and had a very successful event with 19 people attending. We were also joined by some of the Bridlington Augustinians, (Thankyou to Augustinian Prior Michelle for extending the invite).

Mrs Marriott gave a very interesting talk and tour with refreshments, covering nearly 3 hours! Mrs Marriott and her late husband, Richard, the former Lord Lieutenant of East Yorkshire, purchased Boynton Hall in the 1980s and undertook significant renovations. Mrs Marriott has been involved in creating a woodland dedicated to her late husband, known as Richard's Wood. You can read more about her project on the Humber Forest website.

Mr Marriott started writing a book before he passed away, however, Adrian Green continued with it and 10 years later it has been published. "Boynton Hall Simply Told" can be purchased at Old Town Books, High Street, Bridlington for £15.

The Society thanks Mrs Marriott for hosting us, and for her wonderful tour around her home, the beautiful Boynton Hall!
