Filey St Oswald's Church dates from the 12th and 13th centuries and is described by Pevsner as “easily the finest church in the north-east corner of the East Riding”.

Placed at the top of the cliff I understand this is a very beautiful church to visit with a large graveyard. We will be given a tour of the church to hear the stories and history of St. Oswald’s and the graveyard - weather permitting.

Filey is approaching the centenary of its worst fishing disaster and has a plaque in the church to commemorate this.

Parking is free outside the church (follow signs to the Country Park, take the little lane first right off Church Cliff Drive and go the end. The church is kept open.

We will meet Margaret Hicks-Clarke who will take us round along with her husband John.
