Speaker Meeting Report: Paul Schofield on Beverley

The Civic Society talk from Paul did not disappoint. With a PowerPoint presentation, the tour around the ancient town of Beverley was fascinating.

He told us that beavers once inhabited the river—hence the town’s name—and shared the history not only of the Minster and St Mary’s Church, but also of other ancient buildings, the famous people who lived and worked there, and the White Horse Inn, commonly known as Nellie’s Bar. This well‑supported event was enjoyed by all and we thank Paul for sharing his extensive knowledge with us!

The Society will be holding a 'Civil' tour around Beverley with Paul in the spring. Watch this space and see our events page for more!
