Speaker Meeting Report: Sarah Berrey, helm of Bridlington Lifeboat

On Tuesday 14 October 2025, the Society was delighted to receive a presentation by Sarah Berrey, the helm for the Bridlington lifeboat crew, RNLI. Sarah was joined by Bob Taylor for their powerpoint presentation and talk.
Sarah shared with us her experiences and the training involved. She has been a crew member for 7 years and her intention is to become coxswain which will altogether be 10 years.
The crew have to be available at all times day or night, and they come from all walks of life - business, builders, fishermen, plumbers and a chef! Their roles are all voluntary apart from the mechanic who is paid. The RNLI organisation is self funding with no money from the government or anywhere else.
Thank you Sarah and Bob for speaking to the Society! The audience were spellbound and many questions were asked! The Society's Chairman’s report is simply: ‘Wonderwoman’.
