Speaker Meeting Report- Health Forum

The Bridlington & District Civic Society held an interesting talk with members of the Health Forum in Bridlington on the 11th March 2025.
After a brief introduction of how the forum was set up and why, Dr Clark, a retired GP of Bridlington, introduced members representing the Forum. These are retired professionals in our area who felt they could still contribute to helping the people of Bridlington receive what health care they required throughout their lifetime.
The Health Forum began in 2022 because of extreme concern for health care provision in our area.
Dr Clark told us about their aspirations for the health care in Bridlington. The Forum conducted a survey resulting in where weaknesses in Bridlington health care appeared to be.
Because of the work done by the Forum, there is a palliative care pilot scheme at Bridlington Hospital, along with improvement of access in primary care with fewer complaints regarding GP access and fewer complaints to the Health Forum.
An enthusiastic, comprehensive talk leaving us feel confident that retired health care professionals are closely monitoring health care needs in our town. They are giving up their time voluntarily because they care for Bridlington and more importantly for the people who live and work here.
Questions and answers followed with thanks from the chairman.
Our next speaker meeting will be held April 8th Halifax Spinning Mill by Paul Crookes. Members free Friends donation £2
